David, Susan, Christopher, Kate, and Joshua

"David and I continue to live in Northfield Falls, Vermont where we have lived since September, 1984. This is by far the place where David and I have lived longest since we were married in 1969 and it is the place David has lived longest in his entire life. We love Vermont and have enjoyed raising our family here.

David completed his work at St. Louis University and earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1988. He began building a private practice at that time and has been in full time private practice with an office in our home since January, 1992. Gardening and reading are the activities that help him relax.

After several years as a Learning Specialist in a local public school, I completed a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from St. Michael’s College. For the past two years I have been working as a personal counselor at Vermont Technical College in Randolph, Vermont. Jogging and reading are what help me relax.

In July, 1994, we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with a two week trip to England, a truly memorable time.

What has given us the most pleasure and taken up the most time has been our time with our children. We have seen an abundance of soccer, hockey and baseball games as well as dance recitals over the last twelve years, each one exciting because we were watching our children grow and become independent people. They are each at a different place in that process now. Joshua, 21, moved to Buffalo to play Junior A ice hockey with the Niagara Scenics for a year after graduation from high school. He is presently a sophomore at SUNY Potsdam in upstate New York, majoring in mathematics and playing hockey for the Potsdam Bears. Christopher is just completing his freshman year at Boston University, majoring in archeology. Although adjusting to a city environment was difficult (Chris is an outdoor type), he likes Boston University and plans to return next year. Kate will be entering high school next year so we still have many sports events and dance recitals in store for us.

In 1989 David’s parents moved to Vermont and in 1994 my parents also moved here. David’s parents have been in a nursing home close to us for the past two years. My dad died last spring and I am thankful that my mom lives just 8 miles down the road. Our Shelter Island ties are weakening so we are thankful for the opportunity to return to the Island for our 30th high school reunion."
