| Purpose | This site provides information and links related to object-oriented document management, workflow, and work management. Work management encompasses assigning, scheduling, tracking, and reporting work with, or without, the assistance of a workflow system. |
| Current Focus | The initial focus is on defining enduring business objects, design patterns, and reusable components to serve the industry need of making the construction, integration, customization, and maintenance of such systems easier, quicker, and less costly. Subsequently, the designs and models will be documented for various object-oriented languages, and mappings or wrappers documented for major vendor APIs and vendor object components. |
| Environment | These new objects, designs, and components are intended to make maximum use of the facilities and capabilities of underlying commercial document management and workflow systems, rather than supplant them. Indeed, the expectation is that over time, most organizations will require that their desktop, server, and batch applications be capable of concurrently operating with multiple commercial systems. Such requirements will result from integrating departmental systems, supporting direct interaction with customers and business partners via the Internet, corporate acquisitions and mergers, and subsystem obsolescence. |
| My Projects | The content reflects practical experiences obtained from object-oriented consulting engagements to integrate document management and workflow systems with business systems for a number of leading insurance companies. Continuing research and evolving prototypes will be used to position present results with new and evolving technologies, including distributed objects. |
